Last Sunday, the parish of St. Francis Xavier in Liverpool hosted the Ellen Ensemble, a 25 member chamber orchestra, for a performace of 18th Centuary music that was either written or inspired by Jesuits. The concert, part of the Adoremus parallel programme, included pieces by Domenico Ziplo SJ (1688 – 1726) and the money raised from donations for the concert – and across the weekend – was generously donated to support our work.
Debbie Reynolds, Pastoral Assistant at St. Francis Xavier (SFX), said “People thoroughly enjoyed the events and some were visibly moved by the beautiful music, especially the works of Jesuit composer Zipoli. It was a great weekend!”
Sr Janet Fearns, who had been in attendence, said it was an event that would “live long in people’s minds and hearts.”
A massive thank you from everyone at JRS UK to all those who attended and donated over the weekend. The events raised a whopping of £500! The money will help us to continue to offer a calm, safe and welcoming environment to destitute refugees across London.
